Quick answer: most visitors need a valid passport, a return ticket, enough money for their stay and a local address, plus Dominica’s online immigration form. Commonwealth citizens do not need a visa, and US, Canadian and French nationals can visit visa-free for short stays. Rules change, so always check the official sources before you travel.

What immigration will ask for

  • A valid passport
  • A valid return or onward ticket
  • Proof you can support yourself for your stay
  • A local address (your hotel or guest house)

Dominica also uses an electronic immigration form, completed online at the government’s ED card site before you arrive.

Do you need a visa?

  • Commonwealth citizens: no visa needed.
  • US, Canadian and French nationals: visa-free for short stays. Discover Dominica’s page mentions both two weeks and up to 21 days, so confirm the limit for your trip with the Immigration Department.
  • Visitors staying under 24 hours, including cruise passengers, do not need a visa.
  • Some nationalities, including Haitian citizens, do need a visa. Use the government’s “Do I need a visa” checker.

Travelling with a pet

Pets need an import permit. The Division of Agriculture’s Veterinary Unit can advise on what is required.

Getting here

Most visitors fly into Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM) on the northeast coast, usually connecting through a larger Caribbean hub, or arrive by fast ferry from Guadeloupe, Martinique or St. Lucia. The currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar, and US dollars are widely accepted.
