Bouyon grew out of Dominica in the late 1980s, when the band WCK (Windward Caribbean Kulture) started mixing jing ping, cadence-lypso and electronic drums into something faster and harder. The name comes from the Creole word for a one-pot stew, everything in together. Today it’s the sound of Mas Domnik, which crowned its first ever Bouyon Road March in 2025, and of every fete from Roseau to Portsmouth.
